Bhubaneswar is an ancient city, with a historical record that goes back to 4 BC. It was the site of Kalinga Nagar, the capital of the Chedi dynasty who ruled the area. Bhubaneshar is known for its many beautiful Hindu temples, over 500 in number, which represent all the phases in the development of Kalinga temple architecture.
The archaeological remains at Dhauli, and the hills of Udayagiri and Khandagiri provide evidence of both Jain and Buddhist settlements around Bhubaneswar in the first two centuries BC.
The modern-day city of Bhubaneswar, which developed after India's independence, is a planned city with broad roads and tree-lined avenues. The administrative offices of the Odisha state government are located in Bhubaneshwar. It is also a commercial and business centre, with modern infrastructure, office complexes, restaurants, cafes etc.
Together with Puri and Konark, Bhubaneshwar forms the eastern golden triangle of India.
The menu on the right describes our sightseeing tours in Bhubaneshwar city as well as day excursions outside the city. You can also do longer tours in Odisha, if you have more time.
